Expressions of interest are now open for 2026 appointments to the Darling Downs Hospital and Health Board.

The board plays a critical role in providing oversight, driving service delivery, good governance and accountability across the health service.

Darling Downs Hospital and Health Board Chair Dr Dennis Campbell shared the board has helped set a strategic direction for the organisation, ensuring the effective delivery of care to communities across the region.

Since Dr Campbell was appointed as Chair in April 2024, the board has increased its focus on strategies to improve patient and staff well-being, and has overseen extensive capital works programs such as the new Toowoomba Hospital and new facilities at Millmerran and Tara.

Darling Downs Hospital and Health Board member Merrilyn Strohfeldt joined the board last year because, after a lifelong career in health, she wanted to give back to the community.

“I love being responsible and accountable for how we deliver services that are world-class across the Darling Downs and making sure that our people are well looked after,” Ms Strohfeldt said.

The board is made up of diverse professionals from across the Darling Downs, with members coming together every month for two days to review the health services’ performance.

Expressions of interest for appointment to Hospital and Health Board positions will be open for six weeks from 28 July to 7 September 2025.
