Fake $50 and $100 notes have been flagged around Kingaroy over the past two weeks.

Police are urging residents and businesses to show extra care when handling notes, and report any suspicious circumstances to police as soon as possible.

Queensland Police reported that police officers are currently investigating the counterfeit cash, which had been used to make purchases around the South Burnett town on three occassions.

Police have received reports that these fake notes had been used to make purchases at an Avoca Street grocery store on Wednesday, 17 September, a fuel station on Youngman Street on Monday, 29 September and a fast-food store on Haly Street on Wednesday, 1 October.

Close inspections of the counterfeit notes reveals the cash is printed on paper, with the word ‘PROPS’ written with various serial numbers.

Police investigators are appealing for anyone with information that may assist ongoing investigations to contact police via Policelink on 131 444, or to report anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
