Four surviving puppies from an abandoned litter discovered at the Kingaroy tip have found their forever homes.
A litter of seven puppies was found abandoned, dumped at the Kingaroy tip during April 2025. Sadly only four of these puppies survived.
RSPCA Inspector Rhiannon volunteered to foster the four surviving puppies with round-the-clock attention, and was pleased to see all four puppies pull through.
One of the puppies, fondly named Echo, has now been adopted.
Since then Echo’s three siblings have also been adopted.
“All remaining puppies have made a full recovery and have been adopted into loving, new homes,” Inspector Rhiannon said.
Sadly Echo and her siblings’ story is not isolated.
“Sadly, cases of animals being dumped or abandoned, even on our doorstep when they are not wanted are common, especially litters or pregnant animals,” Rhiannon said.
RSPCA’s Inspectors supports the Department of Primary Industries with animal welfare and cruelty reports in the Burnett region.
If anyone finds any abandoned or dumped animals, they are encouraged to contact the RSPCA on 1300 ANIMAL (1300 264 625).
“Any evidence you can provide can help investigations, so those responsible can be found,” Rhiannon said.
On Thursday, 2 October, RSPCA will be running their ‘Give to Get Them Home’ campaign, with any donations made on 2 October doubled.
RSPCA supports animal rescues from abuse or neglect and gives them a second chance to find a loving home.
There is so much involved in getting animals ready for adoption including vaccinations, medical treatment, training and addressing any special needs.
“Any support for our fundraising appeal, will help ensure we can continue to be there for animals like Echo so they can receive lifesaving veterinary care and find a second chance,” Rhiannon said.
For just one day, Thursday 2 October, every dollar donated to the RSPCA will be doubled. For more information and to give visit: rspcagivingday.com/
