90th birthday celebrations

The Murgon RSL was brimming with laughter, cherished memories, and heartfelt tributes recently as Evelyn Kingston marked her 90th birthday on Saturday, 12 July surrounded by family, friends, and well-wishers from near and far.

Local stalwart and beloved matriarch —admired for her warmth, resilience, and unwavering community spirit—enjoyed a celebratory lunch that brought together generations of loved ones.

The venue was thoughtfully decorated with photographs chronicling Evelyn’s extraordinary life, from her early days growing up in Kumbia to her decades of community volunteering, family and as a business owner in Murgon.

Evelyn is the proud mother of four children—Tanya, Vicki, Howard, and Bradley—and her legacy continues through ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, many of whom were present to celebrate the occasion.

Adding to the occasion’s significance, Evelyn received congratulatory messages from Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Queensland Premier David Crisafulli, acknowledging her contributions and milestone.

As the afternoon drew to a close, guests lingered to share stories, take photos, and raise a toast to Evelyn’s remarkable journey.

Her birthday was more than a celebration of age—it was a tribute to a life lived with purpose, kindness, and grace.
