Tom Curtain visit delights Probus Club

Well known for his vibrant and engaging performances, Tom Curtain recently brought his musical talents to the Kingaroy Probus Club’s Christmas break-up lunch on Tuesday, 2 December.

While guests enjoyed a sumptuous meal provided by Judy Crawford, Tom and his skilled musician colleague, Chris Matthews, added a lively and warm atmosphere to the event with their blend of original country tunes.

In between songs Tom reminisced on his early life in the Boyneside district, where he attended Kumbia State School and was taught piano and singing by local Kingaroy teachers Marita Carroll and Sheila Birchley.

Some of the Probus Club members remembered Tom in his early years growing up in the region, which made the occassion extra special.

His love of horses and the great outdoors took him as a young man to Katherine in the Northern Territory where he now resides and runs his very successful Katherine Outback Experience.

The enterprise has won gold in the last couple of years in the National Tourism Awards, and Tom and his crew of family, musicians, horses, dogs and goats travel Australia each year to bring his show to people from both cities and country areas.

This weekend the Katherine Outback Show will be in Boonah, Pittsworth and Chinchilla, with Wandoan on Friday 12 December, and a welcome home final show for this year at his home town of Kumbia on Saturday 13 December.
