Extension for David Bryce awards

Regional artists have an extra few days to get their entries into the highly acclaimed David Bryce Rural Award 2026.

The entries, which were due to close on 29 January, will now be open until 4pm, Monday 9 February.

The awards, hosted by the Kingaroy Regional Art Gallery, offers up prizes from $200 to $1,500.

The biennial awards celebrates contemporary interpretations of rural life, and is open Australian residents living in rural or regional areas.

The winner of the open award will see their masterpiece become a valuable addition to the South Burnett Regional Council’s art collection which will be featured in upcoming exhibitions.

Artists may submit up to two entries per section, with the works completed after January 2024 and must not have previously won a prize in any art competitions (excluding rural agricultural shows).

Sections include:

1: Open Award (overall winner and judge’s choice from categories 2-5) -any rural or regional subject

2: Rural landscape award

3: Rural portrait award

4: Rural Animal Award sculpture

5: Rural animal award (any medium, except photography)

6. People’s Choice award

All works in the David Bryce Rural Awards must be for sale and meet size and presentation requirements.

Judging will take place on Sunday, 1 March with the winners announced at the exhibition opening on Saturday, 7 March from 2-5pm.

The David Bryce Rural Awards exhibition will be on display at the Kingaroy gallery from Monday, 2 March to Monday, 27 April.
