Next youth parliament member?

Are you interested in how the government works, or passionate about your community?

Applications are now open for the 2026 Queensland Youth Parliament.

Nanango MP Deb Frecklington called on young people to nominate for their respective electorate’s youth parliament position.

Each year, 93 young Queenslanders are selected to represent every electorate and take part in the 31st Queensland Youth Parliament.

It is a unique chance to step inside the democractic process and learn how real change is made.

“Youth Parliament gives young people an incredible insight into how government works, while building confidence, leadership skills and a deeper understanding of how decisions are made,” Mrs Frecklington said.

“Opportunities like this help young people learn how to influence change, contribute to their communities and develop the skills that future leaders need.

“This is a fantastic chance for a young person from our region to represent our community and experience Parliament firsthand.”

Passionate Queenslanders aged 16 to 25 are invited to apply before 22 February. Applications can be submitted at: ymcaqyp.org.au
