When Roberta Schablon was tasting her way through a picnic of local produce with her husband, she had a ’light bulb’ moment.

Being heavily immersed in the Burnett food industry, the local chef is always coming up with new ways to put producers on display.

Now, in collaboration with Clovely Estate, the Saucy Fork, Farm 2 Fork Collective and Pursers Coaches, Roberta and General Manager of Clovely Estate Aaron Stephan are launching an event first called ’The Olive Grove Picnic with Producers’.

Roberta said collaborating with Aaron was always a pleasure because they both had the same end goal – to showcase local producers from within the region.

“Clovely Estate is such a beautiful venue,“ she said.

“Aaron and I have worked together before on other projects including the Long Table Dinner.

“We got talking again and as Covid-19 restrictions were easing we were thinking, ’What can we do next?’

“So after some planning we have decided to host this event.“

The day will feature at least 20 vendors from around the region and guests will have the opportunity to purchase local produce while enjoying an afternoon looking out over the olive groves.

From a business perspective Aaron said he looked forward to welcoming a few familiar and new faces onto the grounds.

“We always try to promote the local producers and we are big on collaborating,“ he said.

“Hopefully we get a few hundred people to attend.

“Depending how it all goes, we would like to make it a quarterly event to follow the seasons.

Aaron said they would even have a few new wines releases for tasting.

“It’s about giving people an option after the lockdown and connecting producers with consumers.“

The event starts from 11am to 4pm and entry is $6.50 via Eventbrite, search for ’The Olive Grove Picnic with Producers’.

BYO blankets or chairs and lawn games.

To pre-purchase grazing platters for 2 for $30, send a message to Roberta via the Saucy Fork.
