Children going without will have access to donated school supplies to ensure they can perform at their best when term one begins.

Kingaroy Shoppingworld and St Vincent de Paul have partnered to achieve Operation Backpack which aims to collect items including stationary, backpacks, drink bottles, and lunchboxes at a donation bin near the Big W entrance for classrooms in the region up until Friday, 22 January.

Kingaroy Shoppingworld assistant centre manager Georgina Williamson said St Vincent de Paul would collect the goods and distribute them to schools so teachers could pass them along to kids without items on their school list.

“This will help families who can’t afford supplies or maybe just can’t get to the shops before school goes back,” Georgina said.

“I think kids will be happy and grateful they can get equipment they might not have had before.

“It’s also great to see our community spirit reflected in people eager to get involved.”
