Gayndah water restrictions lifted

The North Burnett Regional Council lifted its water restrictions on Gayndah on Monday, ending an over two-week long period of rationed town water supply.

Council announced the end of Gayndah’s Level Three water restrictions on 30 March. Residents of the North Burnett town can once again use their reticulated town water for yard work, car washing and other non-essential tasks.

The NBRC placed Gayndah on water restrictions on 11 March as a result of flood damage to a raw water pump in the Burnett River, following heavy rainfalls in the region at the start of the month.

Initial restrictions were set at Level Five, the highest possible, meaning town water was limited to use in personal hygiene, laundry and food preparation.

On 19 March council downgraded the restrictions to Level Three, allowing residents to use town water outdoors in certain conditions.
