Firefighters are once again battling grass fires across the Burnett regions this morning.

Crews of the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services are currently working to contain blazes at Golden Fleece in the North Burnett and Runnymede in the South Burnett, both of which started just after 10am today, Friday 6 October.

A fire in the North Burnett locality of Golden Fleece, northeast of Biggenden, required five QFES crews to contain.

A total of three firies squads remain at the scene of the fire on Berries Road, which was called in at 10:04am today.

The first crew arrived at 10:40am; over the next half hour, QFES firefighters worked to contain the blaze, reporting that they had managed to put out the fire at 11:15am.

A spokesperson for QFES said the remaining crews are working to ‘completely blacken out’ the site of the fire.

QFES firies are currently engaged in protecting an unknown number of structures on Walsh Road at Runnymede north of Nanango, as a five-acre grass fire continues to burn.

The fire was reported to the Service at 10:23am, with the first crew arriving at 11:05am.

Firefighters are working to safeguard structures in the path of the fire as well as trying to contain the further spread of the flames.

Further QFES crews are reportedly on their way to the scene.
