New medical equipment for Kingaroy Hospital

Following an $18,000 donation from Kingaroy Hospital Auxiliary Inc., Kingaroy Hospital now has two new Airvos oxygen machines and an electronic scale.

Registered Nurse Mandy thanked the Auxiliary for the oxygen machines, which together cost $15,000.

“The machines assist patients to receive oxygen quickly and improve patient care, especially when we need to move patients throughout the facility as the machines have an integrated battery,” Registered Nurse Mandy said.

The electronic scales measure height, weight and can calculate body mass index (BMI).

Trudy Renal, an auxiliary member and Nurse Unit Manager, at Kingaroy Hospital, said, “The scales are very easy to use, stable for patients to stand on and will make patient record keeping more efficient.”

The Auxiliary used $17,000 funds raised from running their vending machine to buy the oxygen machines and electronic scales, together with a kind donation of $1,000 from the Kingaroy QCWA.

Alison Murray, Auxiliary President, was invited as a guest speaker to the Kingaroy Senior Citizens Club’s November meeting.

She discussed the Auxiliary’s latest fundraising project and explained the need to purchase a new type of non-invasive ventilator for adult patients with chronic breathing difficulties.

At the end of the presentation, Evan Jackwitz, President – KSCC, on behalf of the Senior Citizens Club donated $5,000 to the Auxiliary to help fund a NI Ventilator for Kingaroy Hospital.
