Police are appealing to the public for information on a man they allege fired a gun in Kingaroy on Wednesday morning.

The Queensland Police Service reported a person fired a number of shots at an Arthur Street property on the morning of 28 May.

Several people living at the property were able to leave the building safely prior to police arrival.

QPS officers are responding to the incident, saying a 25-year-old man whom they believe to be armed remains outstanding.

The man is described as being around 175cm tall, having a slim build, white skin, brown hair and brown eyes.

Police believe the man may be travelling in a black Suzuki Swift with number plates displaying 551 GE9; the QPS reports the plates are false.

As of 6.15am, the Kingaroy Hospital has closed its doors until further notice due to the man on the run.

Police have also advised businesses and facilities in the area, including some schools, should stay closed as officers respond to the incident.

Members of the public should not approach the fleeing man or his vehicle, and call police immediately if they see either.
