Healthcare boost for Gin Gin, Mt Perry

A new partnership will ensure Gin Gin and Mt Perry residents continue to have access to healthcare.

The Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service announced that from early July, the Gin Gin Family Medical Centre will continue to deliver health services to the community.

The WBHHS team reported that existing Gin Gin patients can be confident they will continue to receive the same great quality care, provided by the Gin Gin Hospital medical staff.

Those in the Gin Gin area and surrounds will be able to continue to access reliable, bulk-billed medical care at the general practice, based at their local hospital.

“We are also pleased that the Gin Gin hospital doctors are now providing weekly Thursday booked outpatient services at the Mt Perry Health Centre,” the WBHHS spokesperson said.

In addition to this, a partnership between WBHHS and the Rural Health Group, will see an onsite GP provide primary health care such as diabetes support, men’s, women’s and children’s health, as well as care for minor injuries and illnesses like coughs and colds, unexplained rashes, and prescriptions.

The Rural Health Group is a Queensland-based not-for-profit organisation which supports health care for rural communities.

Rural Health Group General Manager Loretta Johnson shared their group are excited about this partnership with Wide Bay HHS.

Together they plan to deliver vital health services to the community of Gin Gin and the broader Wide Bay and Burnett area.

“I feel this is an opportunity to ensure the needs of the community are continued to be met with quality and timely health care,” she said.

WBHHS Chief Executive Debbie Carroll said their team recognises the many years of service which Dr Ali dedicated to the Gin Gin and surrounds community and wish him the best in his future endeavors.
