Over 50 equestrians trailed behind a wagon carrying the casket of 16-year-old Lucy Needer through Booie on Thursday afternoon, with the group of mourners delivering the Hodgleigh teenager to her final resting place.

Lucy died at Coolabunia on 3 June when she hit a tree with her car. The South Burnett girl’s family and friends held a private funeral service at Booie Hall on Thursday, 19 June, after which they escorted her to the nearby Booie Cemetery.

Several dozen attendees of the service traveled between the two locations on horseback in recognition of the late teen’s love for riding, with many more arriving to the cemetery by car.

The procession passed through a 2.6-kilometre stretch of Kingaroy Barkers Creek Road on its way to the cemetery, with the busy street closed off for around an hour to allow the mourners a safe journey.
