Rates notice winner delighted

One Nanango ratepayer will have a lucky reprieve from his rates bill.

Shannon Campbell was the winner of the South Burnett Regional Council’s August 2025 rate levy notice email competition.

The initiative was designed to encourage ratepayers to receive their rates levy notices via email.

Any ratepayers who were either already receiving their rates levy notice by email, or decided to change over to email went in the draw to win a once-off $500 credit towards their next rate levy.

When the council contacted Mr Campbell to share the news that he had won the competition, he was genuinely surprised.

Mr Campbell said that he, “was delighted to be the winner of the Council Rate Competition!”

As Mr Campbell is in the process of renovating his Nanango home, he welcomed the extra financial help.

“[This win is] wonderful news, thank you so much. I really appreciate the initiative and the opportunity to be involved,” he said.

Mayor Kathy Duff and the Divisional Councillor Jane Erkens met with the happy winner to present him with his prize.

As a result of the competition, there was an increase of approximately 25 per cent in the number of ratepayers choosing to receive their rate levy notices by email. Given the positive response, the council is considering running this initiative again.

Ratepayers can change over to receive their rate levy notice via email anytime by simple going to the Council webpage and complete a change of address form.
