Mayor’s lunch funds food vouchers

More than $6,800 will assist South Burnett families in need thanks to the Mayor’s Community Christmas Luncheon.

The 5 December event welcomed Sonia McMahon as the guest speaker along with some members of the Rockin Our Abilities music group for people with disabilities.

The funds raised from the luncheon will be donated to South Burnett families in need by way of IGA food vouchers which local charity organisations will distribute.

Mayor Kathy Duff sincerely thanked the community, volunteers, local businesses and sponsors for their generous support which helped contribute to the Mayor’s Community Christmas Luncheon.

“Once again the South Burnett’s strong sense of community shone through to bring a bit of extra joy to those experiencing challenging times this year”, Mayor Duff said.

The food for the two-course meal was generously supplied by the Peries IGA Kingaroy and Sunpork, and beautifully prepared and served by the Queensland Country Women’s Association members.

The Mayor’s Community Christmas Luncheon 2025 was proudly supported by QCWA, Sunpork, Peries IGA Kingaroy, BCF, Bega, Bunnings, Coppards, The Honourable Deb Frecklington MP, Good Price Pharmacy, Harvey Norman, Jamaica Blue, Kingaroy RSL, Little Butcher, Muffin Break, Wholelife Chemist, Hillview Cottages, Amethyst Moon, Whimsey and Wonder, Linard Florist, SG’s Hair Design, Deepfeet, Whipbird Café, Martoo Meats, Amiches Hair Salon, Cathy Freeman, Somethings Country, Royal Hotel Murgon, Kay Apparel, Carrollee Hotel, Windmill Bakery and South Burnett Regional Council.
