It’s bunya nut season – how do you have yours?
Across the South Burnett, bunya pines or bonyi bonyi have begun dropping their spiky, heavy cones which contain the delicious bunya nut.
The bunya nut has been a cultural staple for the region’s First Nations people, who would journey to the Bunya Mountains at harvest time to consume the nuts and share stories.
A popular way to eat bunya nuts is to boil them in saltwater – but what is your favourite way to prepare the delicacy?
