Car in gully following Burnett Highway crash

UPDATE:

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman has confirmed the single vehicle traffic crash on the Burnett Highway in Wyalla this morning was the result of a suspected medical incident.

“A car has ended up in an embankment along the Burnett Highway near Memerambi Barker Creek Rd this morning around8.50am,” she said.

“Our four ambulance crews arrived on the scene at 9.20am and proceeded to treat the male patient who is currently in a critical condition as a result of his injuries.

“The male driver is currently being flown out by the Sunshine Coast LifeFlight helicopter… At this point in time it’s believed the incident was the result of a medical condition.”

A Queensland Police Service spokesman said there are currently road closures in place at the Wyalla Creek Bridge in order for the LifeFlight helicopter to land.

“At this stage we cannot confirm when the roads will be reopened again, so we are urging motorists to avoid this region for the time being.”

Four Queensland Fire and Emergency and three Queensland Ambulance crews are currently on scene at a single vehicle crash along the Burnett Highway near Memerambi Barkers Creek Rd

in Wyalla.

The crash was called in at 8.50am. More information to come.
