Two bridges have been closed at Gayndah this week.
The Aranbanga Bridge on Wigton Rd and Scrubby Creek Bridge No1 on Binjour Creek Rd are both currently closed.
The North Burnett Regional Council reported that upon inspection these bridges were found to be unsafe for motorists and will be closed until further notice. Detours will be in place.
This decision was part of the council’s regular inspection program which inspected the bridges on Tuesday 23 February.
The council found the Aranbanga Bridge was unsafe due to failed headstocks which resulted in its immediate closure. The headstock is the component that helps to disperse the load of traffic across the piers of the bridge.
Scrubby Creek Bridge No 1 was found unsafe due to structural damage, which also resulted in immediate closure.
Both bridges will be closed until further notice once sidetracks are constructed on site.
Motorists are urged to follow the direction of any signage or work crews they may see in the area.
