The Wooroolin Warriors have emphatically taken out the One Day Premiership over arch rivals Murgon on Saturday 11 December, putting an end to Murgon’s Grand Final hot steak after they won all three competitions last season.
Batting first on a picture perfect Keith Manthey Oval in Gympie, Wooroolin posted a solid 5/188 off their 40 overs with Lleyton Brown the star of the show anchoring the innings with a superb 82 runs, opener Hayden Wieck and Jack Hourn also made solid contributions scoring 34 and 39 not out respectively. Wickets were shared among the Murgon bowlers.
In reply Murgon were never in the hunt losing wickets on a regular basis, being bowled out for only 64, giving Wooroolin a comprehensive 124 run victory. Reginald Wenham was the pick of the bowlers claiming 3 wickets for just 7 runs from his 6.2 overs.
Wooroolin will now turn their attention to the T20 Grand Final where they will take on Colts Gympie Cricket in a night game under lights on 8 January.
